Welcome to Inspired Edibles and thank you for visiting.

I am a registered nutritionist and recovering lawyer with a background in corporate and media law.

I was born and raised in Montreal and have lived in Vancouver, Toronto and Ottawa (where I currently reside with my husband and two children).

After struggling for many years with chronic migraine and reoccurring bouts of irritable bowel syndrome, I began to realize that my 60-hour work week lifestyle, lack of proper nourishment and out-of-control stress levels were seriously compromising my health.

I'm not sure whether it was the highly stylish elasticized waistband pants that I started wearing to accommodate my inflamed abdomen or the fact that I passed out cold from a migraine in the middle of a corporate closing that sounded the final alarm but, either way, from a whisper to a scream, I knew that change was necessary. The rest of my life counted on it.

To the bewilderment of many, I decided to trade in my life as a lawyer for that of a health educator, returning to school to obtain my designation as a holistic nutritionist.

Today, I live without regret, educating others on the benefits of whole foods, proper rest and a balanced lifestyle and feel more integrated in mind and body than ever before.

Don't get me wrong.  I have bad days like everyone else.  Health and wellness is not something that snaps into place and stays fixed in time effortlessly.  Staying on track requires work, patience and a willingness to make mistakes and keep going. We are all works in progress.

My blog, Inspired Edibles, is the manifestation of many of my life passions: health, wellness, writing, creative flow and yes, food!

One of my biggest goals as a nutritionist, is to show people that healthy eating does not have to be time-consuming, complicated or boring.  I try to keep my recipes as simple as possible, understanding that we all have busy lives.  When we overly complicate things, we risk becoming overwhelmed and discouraged, which can often mean going back to bad habits.  This is the opposite experience I intend for my readers.

My primary focus is on using whole ingredients that have been minimally processed and refined. I focus on natural foods because they deliver the greatest concentration of nutrients for our bodies – vitamins, minerals, fibre, enzymes and antioxidants.  These same foods also tend to be easier for our bodies to break down, digest and metabolize.  For me, it's about keeping things as close to nature as possible while still delivering amazing flavor.

I hope you will enjoy journeying with me as we celebrate life and the world of whole, natural foods.  I’m delighted to have you aboard!
